Isolation Transformers
Galvanic corrosion can cause severe structural damage to a boat’s underwater fittings, such as the propeller, shaft, and metal hulls when connected to shore power. Indispensable in professional marine energy systems, a Victron Energy Isolation Transformer completely eliminates any electrical continuity between AC shore power and a boat. The shore power is fed to the primary side of the transformer, and the vessel is connected to the secondary side. The transformer acts to convert energy into magnetism and back to electricity on the secondary side. This not only prevents electrolytic corrosion but guarantees a safe electric system.
Toroidal transformer type use is quiet, highly efficient and low-weight. Built-in soft start circuitry ensures that the shore circuit breaker will not trip when plugged in.
Victron Isolation transformers are available in a 2,000 Watt, 3,600 Watt, Auto-switching 3,600Watt or 7,000Watt model. The 3600W Auto 115/230V model will automatically switch to 115 V or 230 V supply, depending on input voltage.
